Tonight at 20h45: Club Brugge – Zulte Waregem

Only one more team to beat before the Cup Final. The Semi Finals is in two rounds, the first leg of which is taking place tonight, with Club Brugge entertaining Zulte Waregem at 20h45. Get in the know here.

With three Cup goals and eight league goals, Gianni Bruno is the most efficient player with the visiting side. In his first year at Essevee, the 28-year old has become a mainstay at the Gaverbeek. Having spent his training at Standard and Lille, Bruno played alongside a.o. Eden Hazard. After thirty games at Lille's seniors, he had stints at Bastia, Evian, Lorient, Samara and Cercle Brugge.

With two Cup goals and nine league goals (three of them against Zulte Waregem) so far, David Okereke has peppered his first season with goals. The 22-year old Nigerian signed in from Spezia, Italy, where he scored 10 goals and offered 12 assists in 33 games last season. With his agility and efficiency, he's a target striker capable of breaking the deadlock up front.

Mr. Wesley Alen will be handling the whistle at Jan Breydel, backed by his linesmen Mr. Florian Lemaire and Mr. Romain Devillers; fourth official will be Mr. Christof Dierick. In charge of VAR is Mr. Lothar D’Hondt, backed by Mr. Lennert Becquet and Mr. Roel Bensch.

A Play-Off 1 ticket is still in the cards for Zulte Waregem, but the outfit has also performed well in the Cup so far, getting past Duffel (4-2), STVV (3-0) and Charleroi (2-3). A fine result in the first leg would offer the team a firm look on the Cup Final. No Larin, suspended, at Zulte Waregem, while another yellow would cost Björdal, Deschacht, Marq and Mensah a spot in the second leg. Coach Francky Dury selected the following names for the trip to the league leaders: Bossut, Bansen, Bostyn, De Fauw, Baudry, Mensah, Walsh, Pletinckx, Deschacht, Marcq, Sissako, Zarandia, Bjørdal, Seck, Van Hecke, Bruno, Oberlin, De Smet and Berahino.

A spot in the Cup Final is what Blauw-Zwart aims for, with a first leg tonight and the return in two weeks. Earlier on, Club proved too strong for Francs Borains (0-3), KV Ostend (2-4 after penalties) and Anderlecht (0-2). In the league, Club won both encounters with Essevee. At the Rainbow Stadium, Club won 0-2, goals courtesy of Okereke and Diagne, while the home game gave Club a solid feeling as it headed for the Winter Break, putting four past Zulte Waregem on 26 December, goals by Diatta, Okereke (2x) and Vormer. Another booking will cost Loïs Openda and Ruud Vormer the return at the Gaverbeek.
