Victories for Lazio and Zenit, draw for Dortmund

Lazio Roma had a perfect dress rehearsal for Tuesday's match against Club Brugge by beating Spezia 1-2. Zenit bounced back from the 3-0 defeat against Club with a 5-1 victory. Dortmund shared the honour with Frankfurt following a 1-1 draw.

Spezia - Lazio: 1-2

Lazio bagged all three points away against Spezia, the former team of David Okereke. The first threat was from the hosts, but Reina palmed away Estévez' shot. Spezia looked the brighter side, but Lazio hit them hard on the break. Milinković-Savić' through ball reached Immobile who prodded the ball home, between the legs of Provedel. Spezia were close to an equaliser when Bastoni smashed it against the post.

In the second half Spezia pulled one back and the newly promoted team created some danger to maybe score a second, but in the Simone Inzaghi's team kept their one-goal advantage.

Halfway the first half Azmoun's brace had given Zenit a comfortable lead, Dzyuba scored the third and Douglas Santos put the game to bed with a penalty goal on the stroke of half-time.

The second half was less entertaining. Fifteen minutes before the end Azmoun completed his hat-trick from the spot. The visitors pulled one back in the dying minutes of the game. Thanks to this victory Zenit and Spartak Moscow are joined first in the Russian Premier League. (SF)

The hosts broke deadlock early on through Japanese forward Kamada. Dortmund responded with a strike by Reyna into the arms of the goalkeeper and two attempts by Sancho that missed target.

Frankfurt showed character, while Dortmund clearly missed the presence of Haaland. Coach Favre brought on the young Moukoko in the second half and the visitors started to create more danger. Brandt pulled one wide, Can saw his effort thwarted by the Frankfurt goalie.
