Youssouph Badji: “Great team performance”

Club forward Youssouph Badji's second half heading goal made sure the points went Club's way at KRC Genk. Still not eighteen, the forward played an excellent game, scoring his second official goal at Club Brugge.

“I'm really happy with this win, of course. We knew Genk's team is a solid and creative one, and it would take a focused Club to take them on, and I do believe we managed to do that. The papers are saying Club is not in fine form, adding the pressure a bit to get something from here. We made sure Genk had nothing to say, especially in the first half, and maybe we should have added more goals, but when you add up all the opportunities in this game, I reckon it's a fair win for us.”

The question on everyone's lips was how a young boy like Badji must be feeling having just scored the winning goal. “Very satisfied, of course. I'm happy I was able to do so, but in all fairness it could just as well have been someone else scoring. I do realise I have so much to learn still, and I'm very happy to have been accepted by the other guys to be playing up front. I keep on learning in every single training session, and I hope I can contribute to the team like this. I reckon we put in a fine team performance today. Both feet firmly on the ground, eyes and ears open at training, and we'll see where this will take us.” (FDC)
