Bodø/Glimt loses Norwegian cup final

UEFA Conference League

Norwegian champion Bodø/Glimt played the cup final against Molde on Saturday. It was Bodø's chance to secure the double, but it lost after a late goal by Molde in the final minutes.

Molde started the cup final best with a few small chances, but goalkeeper Lund responded alertly each time. Bodø quickly redressed the balance: Amundsen headed wide after a corner and Pellegrino had a good chance to open the scoring. After a quickly taken free kick, the striker was able to go for goal on his own, but the Norwegian's lob ended up on the roof of the goal. Thus, the first half ended scoreless.

Early in the second half, Molde saw midfielder Breivik sent off after a collision with goalkeeper Lund. Molde was not upset by this forced substitution and continued to fight for every ball. Attacker Gulbrandsen threatened from outside the penalty area with a long-range shot, but Lund blocked it. At the other end, Grønbæk saw his effort blocked by Molde's defense. Just as both teams were gearing up for the extensions, the only goal of the match fell. Defender Moe and goalkeeper Lund misjudged a volley from Haugen and Fredrik Gulbrandsen netted the 0-1. Bodø claimed a penalty kick deep into extra time after a duel with Moumbagna, but the referee and VAR saw no merit. So no double for Bodø this season.
