Casper Nielsen: “I know what the Union players are going through now"

As was expected, Club played it fair, even beating Union 1-3, still champions until the 88th minute. It was a special encounter for Casper Nielsen, putting the experience in words after the game.

“No one knows how the Union players are feeling right now, like I do", Casper kicked off. "I know this defeat comes as a downright blow, just like the one I suffered last season. I feel bad for my previous team, but that's just football. We are all professional players and we should always go for it 100%, which we just did. I can see why our fans have mixed emotions after this win: happy to see us win our last game, but also witnessing Antwerp becoming champions after all. That's gotta sting a bit too, thinking of how the two groups of supporters get along. When I was subbed off, the home crowd cheered for me, which goes to show that they haven't forgotten about me just yet. Union will always have a place in my heart, that's clear. It has been a very long season for us, with an outstanding campaign in the Champions League, but we really should have done much better. Next season we will definitely try to become Belgium's Nr 1 again.” (FDC)
