Jorne Spileers along with the Club defense kept a good lock on the door. Standard barely created any chances and Club won this match by a fine 2-0 score.
"It was a very good start those first twenty minutes. Towards the end of the first half we let it slip a little, which was not smart of us. In the second half we showed what Club Brugge is all about. If Standard made the 2-1, it could still be dangerous. But we felt it was our momentum today, we kept going after that 2-0. Only at the end we gave something away with that Ohio chance where Simon intervened well. It was very solid at the back today. If we can start like that with a 1-0, that gives a boost. That's nice soccer like that. If it was still 0-0 after a first half like that, there would be doubts back. I hope it continues like that. After the good start at Leuven and the incredible match at Besiktas, if we continue that performance then we are unstoppable."
Jorne Spileers is seeing more intensity at training and, according to the defender, that is what is causing the better results. "More energy and fighting for each other, that makes the difference now. You see that yourself at training, the intensity is so high. If you bring that winner's mentality at training, it also comes out in matches. In the beginning of the season there was uncertainty, there was a lot of criticism and so on. We sat deep. Now we are doing well, five clean sheets is nice to take away. With the zero to keep, you have at least a point. If the attackers do their job in that, you win. The way we're doing now, then you know it's going to be good. We have a good core and it's a matter of working with the eighteen selected to keep going. It will be fine." (KN)
