Just one week after Club bade farewell to its Danish legend Jan Sørensen at the age of 69, Blue and Black have suffered another passing with Ulrich le Fèvre (77). Ulrich passed away last night in his home in Vejle after a period of illness.
One of the Club all stars of the Happel time in Bruges, Le Fèvre, a left winger, started hiss career at Danish Vejle. His talent soon lured the attention of German top divisionists Borussia Mönchengladbach, and this stint earned him a lot of praise, which did not go unnoticed to the Club Brugge talent scouts.
His five seasons at Club Brugge started with the first post-war league title in 1972, then under coach Leo Canjels. After that, the club had to wait for the arrival of Ernst Happel to win more silverware: both in 1976 and in 1977 Club won the league. His last game for the team in Belgium was the illustrious "Davies" cup, with Club conceding a 1-3 setback against Anderlecht, only to go on to win 4-3. Le Fèvre was the man behind the 2-3. He featured in 184 games at Club, finding his way to the nets on 41 occasions.
Ulrich ended his playing career where it all started: at Vejle. Jan Sörensen followed in le Fèvre's footsteps, and fate has had it that both set up René Vandereycken with an assist in two heroic European encounters for Club: against Ipswich and Juventus.
The entire Club family wishes to send its condoleances to the family and friends of Ulrich.
