Blue-Black knocked Besiktas with forfait figures and of course coach Deila was very satisfied and proud of his team.
"I am very satisfied with the performance," began coach Deila. "We started the game very well and after 15 minutes we were ahead 0-2. After that I thought we took it a little too easy, but in the second half we started putting high pressure again and were more aggressive. So we scored two goals again at the beginning of the second half. We actually controlled the whole game and hardly gave anything away, other than one chance in the first half. In addition, we were able to give playing minutes to a lot of players. So it was a very nice night, because it doesn't happen very often that you come to win so widely in these conditions and stadium. So we have to enjoy that."
Thiago was able to score twice and Skoras also showed with two assists. "I think they are developing well. Thiago started his time at Club well, but then had a little more difficulty. That's also logical considering he wasn't used to the pace and performing under pressure at a top club. I also gave him a bit more rest in recent weeks and now he seems sharp and hungry. He works very hard for the team and I am very happy that he was able to score twice tonight. Same story with Michal(Skoras)...He has a lot of talent and he trains very well, so he maybe deserved to start today. So I am satisfied that he came on the field and showed what he also shows in training. So I was not surprised of improvement he showed today."
Blue-Black picked up 4 out of 6 against Besiktas. "Besiktas was seen as one of the favorites in this group, so we didn't really know what to expect against them. So I am surprised that they only have one point now, which they grabbed against us. I do disagree when you say we didn't have that many chances in the outward game against them. I think we had even more than today, so we should have actually won the game in Bruges quite comfortably. Today we were just a lot more efficient and ended up getting what we deserved."
Efficiency in front of goal has been somewhat lacking at Club Brugge in recent games, but they have been training hard on that and this match could well be a turning point. "It could well be, but it's obviously about confidence and about repetition in terms of exercises and getting the right feeling to score goals. All season we work very well on training, but we practiced more on it last week. The most important thing remains to create enough chances. Because I know that we have enough players who can work the ball against the nets and they showed that today and before. So we have to continue to create enough chances and understand why we can show these performances like tonight. We just have to become more constant in that and then we are a very difficult team to play against," concluded a satisfied Bruges coach. (TM)
