Ronny Deila: “Did not get what we deserved”

Jupiler Pro League

No cake at the end of the road for Club Brugge, having put in the work against Cercle, but finding an outstanding Cercle goalkeeper on its way to keep it 0-0.

“The atmosphere was great”, Ronny Deila started out his post-game analysis. “The fans backed us all the way. We gave them what they want to see: fighting spirtit, commitment, chances, you name it. It's just unbelievable that we couldn't find the back of the nets today. Last week's game at Union was such a downer, but the players fought their way back. They showcased the correct mentality, and I saw lots of confidence when in possession. It was an intense game, and our performance was up to par, but unfortunately we did not get what we deserved. Our organisation was fine on Thursday, but we weren't that great in our offense. Today we were good in offens, but the goals just lacked. Scoring hasn't been a real problem this season, we just have been having some problems in defense. We now managed to keep a clean sheet for two games on the spin, so that's good. As long as we are creating chances, everything's okay. We have players who have the skills to score. It's a pity it wasn't the case today, the win would have done us a world of good.”

The draw allowed Club's competitors to inch further. "We did so well in Europe and in the Cup, but in the league we're faltering. The results aren't good enough, let that be clear. But in many games we deserved better than what we got. But there's still so many games. As long as we manage to put in performances like we did today, the points will automatically follow. I'm very eager, and I would have loved to have played on Thursday again. There's another break now, but we will be all the more eager to claim the three points in Leuven in two weeks.” (SF)
