With a quasi clean shirt, Simon Mignolet addressed the press after the clash with Standard, and as always, the man from Limburg had a clear analysis ready : "The fact that I can keep the score zero for a fifth consecutive game is mainly for the statistics. But on the other hand, it is proof that we are gradually working towards a better level." The Bruges goalkeeper continued : "Especially in the opening phase of the first half, I thought we played very good soccer and again got to the lead very early, a bit similar to the game against Besiktas. We have to keep playing this way and build on it, because there are still many aspects of our game that need to be improved. Especially in our quest for a second goal we were not decisive enough before half-time, and then you notice that Standard can get into the game a bit better, without being really dangerous. Shortly after halftime, the second goal fell and we finished the game sensibly, showing that as a group we have taken the necessary steps. We have to continue on the path we are on but again : in the long run we have to be even more efficient so we can make things easier for ourselves." (MV)
