KVC Westerlo are the host of Club's first away match in the 2023-24 domestic season. In preparation for this season Westerlo played a handful of friendlies. They have beaten SC Heerenveen (0-2), PAOK Saloniki (3-2) and Willem II (2-1), drew level with STVV (2-2) and lost against PEC Zwolle (3-1).

This Summer the club parted ways with former Club Brugge player Tuur Dierckx [Atromitos (Gre)] and Maxim De Cuyper returned to Jan Breydel after his loan spell. Other players who left the club: Igor Vetokele [Lommel SK], Dorgeles Nene (Mli) [back to RB Salzburg (Aut)], Nacer Chadli [back to Istanbul Basaksehir (Tur)], Kouta Mabea (Civ) [contract expired] and Lucas Mineiro [back to SC Braga (Por), now at Cuiabá (Bra)].

Apart from players who left the club, Westerlo signed the following players:

  • Defenders: Bryan Reynolds (Usa) [signed on a permanent deal from AS Roma (Ita)], Jordan Bos (Aus/Ned) [Melbourne City (Aus)] and Tuur Rommens [KRC Genk].
  • Midfielders: Thomas Van den Keybus [Club Brugge (Bel)]
  • Attackers: Matija Frigan (Cro) [HNK Rijeka (Cro)], Lucas Stassin [RSCA Anderlecht] and Adedire Mebude (Sco) [Manchester City FC (Eng)]

Milestones

  • Casper Nielsen can play his 50th match for Club Brugge, Antonio Nusa his 40th.
  • Hans Vanaken can play his 300th league match for Blauw-Zwart.
  • Tajon Buchanan and Andreas Skov Olsen can play their 40th Jupiler Pro League match for Club.

Referee

Jan Boterberg has been appointed referee for this match. He will be assisted by Ruben Wyns and Nick Senecaut. Ken Vermeiren is the fourth official.
