Wins for Bodø/Glimt and Beşiktaş

UEFA Conference League

Our European round up sees wins for both Bodø/Glimt and Beşiktaş. Our next Conference League opponent on October 5 beat Vålerenga 4-2, while Beşiktaş also managed to claim the full loot. FC Lugano, however, faced a heft defeat at the hands of Young Boys Bern.

Bodø/Glimt – Vålerenga 4-2

Only one contestant for the MVP award in this game: Bodø/Glimt's Amahl Pellegrino, scoring all four goals for the hosts. The Norwegian clearly has a knack for goals, topping the top scorer's table last season. Two minutes into the game, the striker opened the score from the spot, only to add one to complete his brace after just fifteen minutes after the visitors had drawn level. A second penalty kick was again duly finished by Pellegrino, and well into injury time he added a fourth to his tally, leaving Bodø/Glimt in second place, two points behind leaders Viking Stavanger. Beşiktaş – Kayserispor 2-1

A narrow win for Beşiktaş, at home against Kayserispor (2-1). Just like on Thursday at Club, Beşiktaş conceded the opener, but set the record straight five minutes later, a Vincent Aboubakar equaliser followed up with the winner by Oxlade-Chamberlain. No more goals followed, putting Beşiktaş in fifth position, with a five point gap with top-of-the-league Fenerbahçe that has started the new season with a solid five consecutive wins. (SF)

Goals: 47’ Mané (0-1), 56’ Aboubakar (1-1), 62’ Oxlade-Chamberlain (2-1).

Young Boys Bern – FC Lugano 4-1

A sturdy defeat for FC Lugano in the Raiffeisen Super League, the Swiss top flight. Visiting league leaders Young Boys Bern, the game ended in 4-1, referring Lugano to seventh place.

The emphatic wiin was mostly engineered in a productive first half, seeing goals by Nsame, Monteiro and again Nsame. The second half proved less eventful, with YBB adding a fourth and Cimignani somewhat softening the blow for Lugano with the 4-1. (EV)
