Despite the wind and cold temperatures, Club Brugge's practice fields once again colored completely Blue-Black on Wednesday afternoon, March 26, 2026. The annual Schools Cup brought hundreds of pupils together for a day of soccer fun, perseverance and Fair Play.
17th edition: a sporting highlight for schools
With its 17th edition, the Club Brugge Schools Cup remains an annual highlight for school teams looking to compete with other teams. 200 pupils gave their best on the field, assessing not only performance but also Fair Play for each team. This year there was also an extra focus on girls' soccer; to make the sport accessible to all, every class was required to have at least one girl on the field.
More than soccer
In addition to the matches on the field, there was also plenty to do off the sidelines. This year's biggest hit? The Juice Trappers. Kids briefly traded their soccer ball for pedals to cycle their own healthy snack together. Pedaling hard mixed fresh fruit into a well-deserved smoothie.
The champions of Schools Cup 2026
After an exciting afternoon, Christus-Koning Elementary School crowned itself the grand sporting winner of the tournament. But prizes were also handed out off the field: the Fair Play trophy went to Sint-Andreaslyceum Sint-Kruis (SASK) for their exemplary sportsmanship, while Sint-Pieter Oostkamp won the Supporter trophy for their impressive flags and chants.
Each participant was rewarded with a unique shirt full of signatures of Club Brugge and Club YLA players and players. As icing on the cake, each player received a medal from the hands of Alderman for Sport Olivier Strubbe.
Teacher Lies Decorte (VBS Sint-Pieter Oostkamp): "Thank you for this fantastic afternoon! Despite the cold wind, our students had the time of their lives. The Schools Cup is an experience they will never forget."
The Club Brugge Schools Cup is an annual organization of Club Brugge Foundation, with the aim of getting young people actively involved and instilling in them the values of respect and fair play.
