Hans Vanaken saw Club win in smooth fashion in this cup match. After halftime, Blauw-Zwart kept pushing and it eventually became 4-0 with two goals by Thiago in the second half.
"You should never be satisfied with just a 2-0. You never know that a ball will come in which Simon chokes and it just becomes a game again. You have to keep the focus and you can't give the opponent that hope. It's also special to play against guys you played together with. We rode together a lot and met up outside of soccer. They're good friends and that's always special."
Igor Thiago, meanwhile, is showing to be the scoring striker Club needed. "You have to be in the right place to work those balls in. He is a boy who works hard and that is rewarded. He had to adapt and he hasn't fully mastered English yet. He immediately fit in well with the group and is friendly. He gets along well with everyone. You can tell from everything that he will be fine. At the moment he is scoring goals by the conveyor belt and that has to do with confidence. If those balls fly in, then the striker may have left."
Club seems to have left and keeping the zero has become important. "We have so many qualities up front that we score every match. If we keep the zero, then we are already far. By catching stupid goals sometimes, that we lost. That has been addressed and we keep more organization and we work for each other. We keep the zero six times in a row and that's very positive. Inside the room it stayed quiet here, because we knew what went wrong. It was in details, because those matches could have gone differently. But maybe that's also the luck you enforce. We sometimes leave the ball to the opponent now and then create space and attack ourselves."
Later this week there is the draw for the next round of the Croky Cup. "If you want to win the cup, you're going to face those good opponents anyway. Possibly already in the next round. We take every match to win. We are tackling it the same way as the past few weeks." (KN)
