It has recently become mandatory for all clubs to have an automatic external defibrillator (AED) within the soccer club.
Why is having an AED device important?
About 30 people a day in Belgium suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital. Shockingly, only 5-10% survive. However, this percentage can be greatly increased (up to 70%) if you can use an AED device and start CPR within three to five minutes.
A heart-safe environment for every athlete
In addition to having an AED device within your club, it is also important to learn how to use the device. Have enough people within the club trained to be proficient in CPR.
