Philip Zinckernagel: “Disappointed with the result”

Jupiler Pro League

An unchanged score in the 155th Bruges city derby was not what Philip Zinckernagel had in mind when he headed for the stadium this morning.

“Today was all about building upon the foundations we laid in last Thursday's game against Lugano. We managed to create enough chances, but either we weren't forceful enough in our finishing or their goalkeeper was in the right place. We are clearly disappointed with the result, despite the fact that we gave it 100% totday. But this Cercle outfit is not an easy opponent, it's no coincidence they are where they are in the table.”

When asked why Club played so much better than it had at Union last weekend, Zinckernagel was clear: “I realise this may come off as a paradox, but sometimes you need to go through a game like that, as long as you draw your lessons. We brushed ourselves off against Lugano, and today I  don't think we have anything to blame, as we played with lots of commitment and gusto, but it just was not to be. We are having a rough run, but I'm fully convinced that the tide will turn some day. How? I don't want to call in any excuses, but with the amount of games we have to play, it's not exactly working to our advantage. It keeps us from training certain things. But again, we will turn things around, that's for sure.” (MV)
